Algiers — The deadline for the submission of candidacies for the legislative elections of June 12 expires Tuesday at midnight, in accordance with the order signed by President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, amending and supplementing the natural regulation on the electoral regime.
Initially deliberate for Thursday, April 22, the deadline for submitting candidacy recordsdata was prolonged by 5 days on the request of the Unbiased Nationwide Election Authority (ANIE) and after session with the Council of State, the Constitutional Council and opinion of the Council of Ministers.
The order provisions “don’t infringe the constitutional ensures of the residents’ train of the appropriate to be candidate,” based on the Official Journal.
The ANIE has drawn up a request to the President of the Republic for the extension of the candidacies submission deadline, mentioned Mohamed Charfi. The extension is “in step with the target of this election, aimed toward renewing the political class and the establishments of the State whereas respecting the free alternative of the individuals”.
At the least 1,813 lists of 53 approved political events and three,075 lists of independents wishing to face as candidates within the parliamentary elections of June 12, 2021, had been registered by ANIE.
